Hood got off to a rocky start in Capital Athletic Conference action last week, dropping a pair of league contests to York College (Pa.) and the University of Mary Washington. Despite a season-high 19 points from Tim Abercrombie, the Blazers could not overcome an 11-point halftime deficit. In Friday's contest in Fredericksburg, Va., J'Air Brady (above) registered his first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. He also drained three three-pointers in the losing effort. Hood is idle until Dec. 29 when the Blazers travel to Hampden-Sydney College for a two-day tournament. The Blazers battle John Carroll University in the opening round at 7 p.m.

Women's Basketball (2-6, 0-2 CAC)

Hood recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since the 2005-06 season Monday with a 68-57 triumph over Trinity University (D.C.). Jen Willison notched her 18th career double-double with game-highs of 30 points and 18 rebounds and became the first women's basketball player to register consecutive 30-point scoring efforts. Allyson Lethbridge (above) tallied 20 points, including three three-pointers, and picked off six steals, while Sara Wastler dished out 10 assists. Hood then squared off against two of the top teams in the Capital Athletic Conference, including the University of Mary Washington, a nationally ranked program. The Blazers' contest at Messiah College originally scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Hood's next game is Saturday, Dec. 20, against Goucher College. The Blazers and Gophers tip off at 2 p.m. from Gambrill Gymnasium.
