Hood came up short in both CAC tilts last week but clings to third place in the standings. Sophomore Brendan Straughn matched his season-high with six assists against Salisbury University, while junior Reco Siler recorded his first double-double as a Blazer with 12 points and a game-high 10 boards versus York College (Pa.). Sophomore Byron Morgan (above) netted a career-best 11 points off the bench opposite the Spartans. The Blazers look to get back on the winning track Wednesday at Wesley College.

Senior Jen Willison notched her second double-double of the season and 28th of her career with season-highs of 25 points and 17 rebounds against York College (Pa.). The Blazers also scored a season-high 72 points and owned a sizeable 42-24 rebounding edge in the loss to the Spartans. First-years Emily Maerz and Stacey Jones (above) recorded season-highs in scoring with eight and seven points, respectively.

The 200 medley relay squad of Jonathan Moughty, Andrew Bodine, Matthew Benoit and Chris Moreland (above) started Saturday's meet with Penn State Altoona off on a strong note, capturing first place with a season-best time of 1:47.83. Moreland's split in the anchor leg was 23.36, as the Blazers touched out the Altoona squad by 0.03 seconds. Ethan Weidman won Hood's only individual race on the day, turning in a time of 13.57.45 to claim the 1000 free.

Hood junior Kristen Kucharski swam a season-best in the 100 back (1:14.41) and sophomore Aleece Groom (above) and freshman Catherine Brown swam their fastest times of the season in the 100 fly (1:15.95) and 100 free (1:26.56), respectively.

Twenty-three student-athletes traveled to Annville, Pa., Saturday to open Hood's fourth season of varsity track and field at the Dutchmen Indoor Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College. Nearly half of the athletes were running in their first college competitions. The outing produced nine new indoor records and team finishes at the top half of the field.
Junior Ola Komolafe (above) sprinted to a pair of second place finishes and school records in the 55- and 300-meter dashes. Senior Blair Ames also notched a second place finish in the mile, lowering his school record in the process.
First-year Jordan McNeill seized his first indoor record in a Hood College uniform finishing fourth at 500 meters, while classmates Naseem Zietoon and Ryan Struss set indoor records in the 55-meter hurdles and the 35-lb. weight throw, respectively.

First-year Chloe Ey was sixth and set an indoor record in the 300. Juniors Patsy Davis, Lacey Kelley and Krista Zerby, as well as first-year Becky Leathers, arrived off participation in other Hood sports to compete in their first college track and field meet.
