Sophomore Kris Miner (above) netted his second hat trick of the season Saturday against Christopher Newport University. Freshman Troy Hubbard also added his team-leading 10th goal of the season versus the Captains. Hood will square off against a pair of CAC rivals this week, including a home date with Wesley College Wednesday.

Hood eclipsed its school record for goals in a game once again Wednesday, registering 22 goals in a shutout victory over Trinity University (D.C.). Junior Brandy Noel and sophomore Kelsey Blackwell tallied six points apiece while freshman Helene Butler dished out a career-best three assists. Sophomore Patsy Davis and Abby Dyjack (above) also notched the first goals of their Blazer careers against the Tigers. Hood battles its second straight nationally ranked CAC foe Tuesday when it hosts the No. 16 St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks.

Hood picked up its first doubleheader sweep of the season Monday against Wells College, outscoring the Express 27-2. Junior Jen Willison tied a school record with four hits and drove in five runs in the nightcap. Freshman Emalie Stroup (above) earned her first pitching victory, tossing four shutout innings and allowing only two hits in the first start of her Blazer career. Hood has a pair of CAC twinbills on the road this week.

The Blazers went 1-1 in its two matches against Capital Athletic Conference foes last week. Hood won four singles matches and swept the doubles from the Wesley College Wolverines Tuesday. Carter Reitman (above), David Blowe, Mike Hardman and Garrett Loomer all registered straight-set victories which helped Hood stretch its win streak to three. David Blowe and Hardman won again Saturday, easily defeating their opponents from Stevenson University at first and third singles, respectively. Hood hosts three matches this week at the Baker Park Tennis Courts.

Hood won its first CAC match of the season Tuesday against the Wesley College Wolverines. Hood captured five of the six singles matches and earned a pair of doubles victories on the afternoon. Jillian Elkaim, Laura Saad (above), Caitlin Erickson, Emily Schrodel and Dani Hunt toppled their singles opponents in straight sets. Hood has a busy week ahead with three home matches and a road contest on the docket.

Junior captain William Andrews won the steeplechase and set a new meet record in leading the Blazers to a third place finish among 10 teams at Saturday's Dragon Invitational in Columbia, Md., and hosted by Howard Community College.
Complementing Andrews' efforts were all-CAC performer Ola Komolafe who finished second in the 400 meters, fifth in the 200 meters and ran legs on two scoring relay teams. Junior Blair Ames (above) nearly ran down the entire field from behind in the 1500 meters nabbing second, only 0.68 seconds off the win. Justin Everett finished second in the long jump, while Matt Haynes was passed on the last throw to finish second in the hammer. He also finished fourth in the javelin and sixth in the discus.
Chris DiGangi vaulted 13' 0" for third and high jumped 5' 9 3/4" to add to his school record and finish fifth. Hood travels to the University of Mary Washington this weekend for the Battleground Relays.

Senior Jessica Parrish (above) participated in five wins as the Hood College women's track and field team finished second among eight teams in Saturday's Dragon Invitational held in Columbia, Md., and hosted by Howard Community College.
Parrish captured the long jump and extended the school record over 14 inches, while leaping 17' 1/4" to also set a new meet record. This was enhanced by wins in the 100 meters, the triple jump, the 200 meters and anchoring the winning 4 x 100 relay. The first two marks also set meet records.
Parrish was only one of several significant contributors to the strong effort as Kayla Murphy produced wins in the hammer and discus and also picked up points in the javelin and shot. Katie Thomas tied for the high jump title, finished second in the 100 hurdles in a new school record, and produced thirds in the 400 meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump as well as running on the successful relay.
Jessica Stanley produced a new school record in the 400 meters while finishing second, added a fifth in the 200 meters and participated on the winning 4 x 100 relay in her first track competition for the Blazers. Hood travels to the University of Mary Washington this weekend for the Battleground Relays.
