Hood men’s cross country placed fourth at the CAC Championships Saturday. Junior William Andrews' 22nd place finish (29:24.70) out of 62 competitors stands as the highest Hood male finish in program history. Senior Nick Manning (above) finished 33rd, junior Brendan Greenlees finished 40th, senior Mattia Mabellini finished 44th and junior Blair Ames finished 50th. Hood is idle this week but travels to Waynesburg College Nov. 15 for the NCAA Mideast Regionals.

Hood women’s cross country took fourth place at the CAC Championships Saturday. Senior Danielle Sgro finished in 13th place (25:24.10), earning her second all-CAC cross country designation and her third all-CAC honor, including track and field. Freshmen Sarah Morris (above) (27:02) and Maria Moss (27:14), sophomore Sam Smith (29:41) and senior Kelly Keyser (31:28) all finished with personal bests by 25 seconds or more. Hood is idle this week but travels to Waynesburg College Nov. 15 for the NCAA Mideast Regionals.

Season complete
Hood ended its season with a 6-0 loss to the York College (Pa.) Spartans. Shawn Fernholz made 11 saves against the Spartans. The Blazers finished the season with a 4-12 record and will lose two seniors, Tom Sprague and Brandon Garton (above), to graduation.

The sixth-seeded women’s soccer team defeated third-seeded Stevenson University on penalty kicks Saturday for the program's first-ever CAC tournament victory. Sophomore Alexa Hubicki, senior captain Liz Rakowski (above) and freshman Casey Miller converted their penalty kicks while sophomore Rachelle Buhrman, who finished with a career-high 16 saves, rejected three of the four Mustang shot attempts to clinch the victory. Sophomore Cara Jordan tied a school record with four goals in a 7-0 win over the College of Notre Dame (Md.), Hood's first in 14 meetings with the Gators. The Blazers will face second-seeded St. Mary’s College (Md.) Tuesday. Hood will be looking for revenge after falling 4-0 to the Seahawks in the regular season.

The Blazers earned their first victory of the season against the College of Notre Dame (Md.), 78-43, in a nonconference meet. Hood won 10 of the 12 individual events and both relays. Erica Hamor (above) was a triple winner in the 1000 free (12:28.75), 200 breast (2:59.72) and the 100 breaststroke (1:20.84). Other winners included Michelle Leggieri, Kim Wolfgang, Kristen Kucharski and Ashley Garyn.

The volleyball team ended its season with a 3-0 loss to Catholic University. Senior Jamie Gardner (above) paced the offense with seven kills and five digs. Senior Bailey Runkles got two digs and a block assist, and senior Christienne Burrell earned a start in the final match of her Blazer career.
