The Blazers tip off their seventh season Friday against Washington College in the first round of the Pride of Maryland Tournament Championship presented by M&T Bank. Hood will play all of its home games at Fort Detrick's Odom Fitness Center. Hood welcomes back six letterwinners from last season, including seniors J'Air Brady and Anthony Bennett, juniors Tyler Snoots and Rian McHenry and sophomores Brenden Straughn and Herb Bowen (above).

Junior guard Allyson Lethbridge led all scorers with 19 points in an 80-50 setback to the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen Sunday in the season opener for both programs at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick. In her Hood debut, freshman Dyanna Prater (above) tallied 10 points in addition to dishing four assists, hauling in four rebounds and picking off a pair of steals. Freshman Stacey Jones finished with six points and four boards in her first collegate game. Junior Kameran Evans connected on one-of-six from the field and grabbed three offensive rebounds in her first game for the blue and grey while freshman Jessica Talley chipped in two points, two assists, one rebound and one block.

The Blazer men placed 36th out of 51 teams at the NCAA Regionals. Senior William Andrews was Hood's top finisher in 27:43.1, good for 129th out of 314 competitors in the 8,000-meter race. Brett Shelley crossed the tape in 28:12.2 while Blair Ames ran No. 3 for Hood in 29:30.9. Brendan Greenlees (above) (30:09.9) and Dave Gudeman (30:29.5) rounded out the Blazer contingent. Andrews' time and place marked all-time bests at the regional championships. His time was also the fourth-fastest in program history. Shelley ran the ninth-fastest time in program history. The average across the Blazers' top five was 29:04.7, the fastest in the seven years Hood College has contested the NCAA Regionals. Greenlees competed in his 34th cross country meet in a Hood College uniform, the most ever for the men’s program.

The Blazer women earned a 42nd place team finish out of 53 squads at the NCAA Regionals. Senior Jessica Stanley traversed the course in a team-best time of 26:10 for 185th place out of 311 competitors. Joanna LaBoue ran No. 2 for the Blazers in 27:22.1 while Emily Brownlee clocked in at 27:38.9. Erica Burgess crossed the tape in 28:01.4, while Sam Smith (above) (29:52.6) and Kristina Coggins (34:02.7) capped off the Hood squad. Stanley's time was her second-fastest time ever and the 30th fastest mark in the seven-year history of Hood College cross country. Brownlee completed her college cross country career with a personal best and Burgess and Coggins also ran personal bests.

Chris Moreland captured third in the 200 free (2:01.05) and second in the 500 free (6:08.39). Matthew Benoit was third in the 50 free (28.85) and second in the 100 free (1:08.04). Kyle Atras finished fourth in the 50 free (29.93), third in the 100 free (1:08.62) and fourth in the 500 free (7:17.18). Thomas Williams came in fifth in the 50 free (32.21), fourth in the 100 free (1:14.12) and second in the 100 breast (1:25.45). All three times were season bests. Ethan Weidman touched the wall third in the 200 IM (2:31.25) and earned first place points in the 100 back (1:11.45). Both times were season bests. Andrew Bodine (above) took second in the 100 fly (1:01.22) and earned first-place points in the 100 breast (1:09.40).

Senior Erica Hamor took top honors in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke in an 84-57 Capital Athletic Conference loss to Marymount University at the Huntsinger Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon. Hamor turned in her top time of the season in the 100 fly (1:09.00) and clocked in a time of 1:17.60 in the 100 breast. Taryn Scafide (above) took third in the 200 free (2:51.48) and the 100 back (1:24.25). Jen Graham came in fourth in the 200 free (2:56.53) and chopped over 19 seconds off her 500 free time to take third (7:40.55). Kristen Kucharski won the 100 free in season-best time of 1:02.61 and finished third in the 50 free (28.35). Andrea Haines placed fifth in the 50 free (33.93) and set a season-best time while finishing second in the 100 breast (1:27.65). Aleece Groom was third in the 200 IM (2:39.13) and shaved more than six seconds off her 500 free time and took second (6:19.65). Saturday's meet is Hood's final home contest of the season.
