Junior goalkeeper Anne Marie Hantman tied the school record with a career-high 31 saves in a 3-0 loss to Wesley. That total is the second-most all-time in a Capital Athletic Conference contest, three away from the record of 34 held by Goucher College's Beth Matthews against York College (Pa.) during the 2000 season. Freshman Megan Cahill (above) scored her first collegiate goal Tuesday in a loss to Stevenson. Hood travels to face the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington in a CAC match Thursday, before returning home to host Cedar Crest College Sunday afternoon.

Junior Andy Alger (above) carded an eight-over 80 to pace the Blazers at the Messiah College Invitational held at the Blue Ridge Country Club Thursday afternoon.
Alger's score was good for ninth place out of 83 competitors at the 16-team tournament. Classmate Aaron Prescott tied for 29th with a score of 83 while fellow junior Evan Chaney registered a score of 88. Newcomers Tyler Fairley and Connor McKenna finished with scores of 103 and 112, respectively. The Blazers shot a combined tally of 354, good for 13th out of 16 schools. Hood's final fall invitational is slated for Monday at Franklin & Marshall College.

Senior Corey DeMaster scored the golden goal with 1:29 left in the second overtime against Waynesburg University Tuesday to end a four-match losing skid. Sophomore Michael Yencho also found the back of the net for his second score of the fall. Freshman William Lane (above) earned his first career start in the net and made a career-high 14 saves. Hood entertains Capital Athletic Conference rival St. Mary's College (Md.) Tuesday in its final home contest of the fall.

Hood ran its unbeaten streak to six with a 1-0 victory over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount University Saturday on Senior Day. Freshman Kristen Byers (above) netted her second goal of the season and the first game-winner of her Blazer career in the 39th minute. Junior Rachelle Buhrman posted her first solo shutout of the season and made nine saves. The Blazers have yet to surrender a Saint goal since joining the CAC in 2007. Hood also evened its CAC record at 2-2 and is now in fifth place in the league standings. The Blazers step out of conference play Tuesday at Catholic University before traveling to Wesley College for a CAC match Friday night.

Hood suffered a pair of Capital Athletic Conference setbacks last week, falling in three sets to the St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks on the road and the Marymount University Saints at home. Senior Leah Garland had a team-high five kills against the Seahawks while junior Chelsea Weaver paced the defense with 11 digs. Freshman Brittany Tribett (above) had a solid all-around match against the Saints, collecting four kills, six digs and eight assists. Hood looks to snap its four-match losing skid with five matches on the docket this week. The Blazers host the sixth-place Stevenson University Mustangs in a CAC tilt Tuesday.
