Biography
Gretchen Nonemaker began her career in student affairs while an
undergraduate at Elizabethtown College, where she earned a bachelor's
degree in psychology with a minor in social work. There she served as a
resident assistant and head resident for three years. While in graduate
School at Shippensburg University, where she earned a master's degree in counseling/college
student personnel, Nonemaker served as a summer
operations director at the university's Student Union and a program intern in the
first-year student experience at Gettysburg College.
Nonemaker comes with a wealth of experience in student activities,
program planning, leadership development, student organizations
support, multicultural initiatives and programming, campus center
management and new student orientation. She has worked at Elizabethtown
College, Shippensburg University, Gettysburg College and Mount St.
Mary's University, as well as at Hood College, where eight years ago
she served as the assistant director of international admission. She's
thrilled to be back!
At Hood she is responsible for student activities and orientation,
campus programming, the Whitaker Campus Center and student organization support.
Overall, her main goal is to support the director in empowering
students to design and implement programming for the campus community
and to assist students in developing leadership skills to their fullest
potential. She is supportive of each student organization, creates a
welcoming environment for all students and encourages students to
participate in the myriad of programs Hood offers.
