First-Year Student Scholarship Programs
Honors Program Scholars - $2,000 per year
First-year students who are admitted to the Honors Program are eligible to receive an Honors Scholarship. Students must apply for admission to the Honors Program, and are chosen on a competitive basis. The Honors Program application may be completed online. Priority will be given to those students who apply by Feb. 15.
Hodson Trust Scholarship - $18,000 per year
First-year students who have the highest academic profiles and have shown leadership in school and community activities are awarded the Hodson Trust Scholarship. The recipients of these scholarships are applicants with superior academic achievement, above average SAT or ACT scores and leadership in extracurricular activities. These scholarships are made possible through support from the Hodson Trust.
Presidential Scholarship - $16,000 per year
Presidential Scholarships are awarded to first-year students with exceptional academic records, academic potential, citizenship and extracurricular achievement.
Trustee, Dean’s and Achievement Academic Scholarships - $6,000 to $14,000 per year
These scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year students with high academic ability and proven leadership in school and community activities.
Hodson-Gilliam Diversity Scholarship - $2,000 per year
The Hodson-Gilliam Diversity Scholarship recognizes students who have a sincere interest in developing a diverse student body. The $2,000 scholarship is awarded in addition to any academic Hood scholarship previously awarded (Hodson Trust, Presidential, Trustee, Dean’s, Achievement). Students of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to complete an application and include an essay explaining how they are involved in creating a diverse environment. All Hodson-Gilliam Scholarship applications must be received in the Hood College Office of Admission no later than Feb. 2. Late applications will not be considered.
Members of National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship
First-year students who are inducted into the NHS in high school are guaranteed at least $10,000 in Hood College academic scholarships. Students must provide documentation of NHS membership by Feb. 15 to be eligible.
