How will my gift be used?

Donations to Annual Funds fall into two general categories:
Unrestricted and Restricted Gifts.

Unrestricted Gifts

They are the main focus of our fundraising campaign because they allow the College to use funds in areas where most needed.

Restricted Gifts

They are applied to specific areas at the request of the donor. When making a donation to Hood, you may designate that your gift be used toward the following areas:

  • Academic Support funds things such as lab materials, computer equipment, media supplies, field trips, student research projects, and internships.
  • Athletics boosts intramural programs, sports teams and related classes with updated equipment and provides for maintenance of athletic facilities.
  • Library Resources pays for programming costs, buys new books and pays for the maintenance and care of existing book, art and other collections.
  • Technology maintains and improves computers and networks throughout the campus, including computer labs and residence halls.
  • Residence Hall Maintenance pays for upkeep, including painting, cleaning and telephone services.
