Assistant Professor/Instructor. The Department of Psychology at Christopher Newport University invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Psychology beginning August 2009. The University seeks outstanding teacher-scholars committed to undergraduate education in the context of liberal learning and who will engage students in creative intellectual challenges. Training in experimental psychology required (specialization open). Applications from any area of Experimental Psychology encouraged, especially cognitive, physiological/neuroscience, animal behavior, and related specializations. Ph.D. in Psychology by 8/1/09 required for tenure-track (probationary) assistant professor appointment; however, candidates who are ABD in Psychology by 8/1/09 are eligible for restricted (non-tenure-track) instructor appointment. Preference given to candidates who can demonstrate ability for teaching excellence, who have active research/publication history that could involve undergraduate students, and who can teach courses in experimental research methods, statistics, and history of psychology and courses in applicant’s area of specialization. Pittsburg State University seeks a broad-based, dynamic individual, committed to high-quality teaching for a full-time, tenure-earning position in Psychology and Counseling (http://www.pittstate.edu/psych). This position begins on August 18, 2009, and will include undergraduate teaching and advising in a combined Psychology and Counseling Department. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to teach introductory courses in Learning, Physiological Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, and History and Systems. Doctorate in Psychology preferred and necessary for tenure eligibility, ABD considered. The person who fills the position will work as part of the Department’s Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to monitor curriculum and provide training for psychology majors. College teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising excellence are preferred. The Department of Psychology and Counseling serves nearly 300 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate majors in general, clinical, and school psychology, and clinical mental health and school counseling (M.S. or Ed.S).
