FREDERICK, Md.—Representatives from more than 30 local nonprofit and service organizations will be at Hood College to recruit volunteers and acquaint students, faculty staff and Frederick community members with services offered by their organizations.
The annual community service fair, which will be held Aug. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m. in the Commons Room in the college’s Whitaker Campus Center, will offer a free forum for Hood and local community members to meet with organization representatives to learn about volunteer and internship opportunities and community services available in the Frederick area. Refreshments will be served.
Local organizations that focus on diverse issues related to therapeutic riding, animal welfare, at-risk youth, sustainable biofuels, immigration services, disease and health care education and services, performing and other cultural arts, domestic violence prevention and services, legal affairs, historic preservation, disability services, food and housing for the disadvantaged, literacy and equality will be among those on hand to discuss their programs.
