Operating Authority of the Ombuds Office

The Ombudsperson operates under the authority defined in Prevention and Resolution of Bullying, Discrimination, and Harassment at Hood College:Policy 55, and also referred to here as PAR (Prevention and Resolution).

Other documents also support the work of the Ombuds Office, most notably the Handbook on Preventing and Resolving sexual misconduct, and the Sexual Misconduct Policy of the Office of Student Life.

  • Hood College Mandatory Reporting Policy
    Describes who needs to report specific offenses to law enforcement and/or Hood's Title IX Coordinator and under what circumstances. If you have knowledge of an incidence of sexual misconduct, you should consult this policy to see whether you have an obligation to report it.
  • Sexual Misconduct Policy from the Office of Residence Life
    Though this policy originates in the Office of Residence Life, it applies to all members of the campus community, whether students or employees, on-campus residents or commuters. It covers, in some detail, what constitutes sexual misconduct, what you can do to prevent it, what you can do if you are witness to it, and what you can do if you have been a victim. Please take some time to read and understand it.
