Core: Heart, Mind & Hands

Students select one column representing one of Hood's core values: hope, opportunity, obligation and democracy. A column consists of two linked courses: in the fall, Hood 101 (First-Year Seminar) and in the spring, a column-related course. Additionally, all students will take ENGL 100 or 101 (writing course related to the column) in the fall.

These courses are major-specific and include a unique combination of liberal arts courses determined per program

During the junior or senior year, students participate in at least one major/minor-related High-Impact Practice.
