About this Program

The piano pedagogy concentration is designed for students with strong piano skills who are more interested in becoming a private teacher than in being a performer.

Program Overview

The concentration requires 39 credits in music, 15 credits of which must at the 300 level or above. Students must be approved by the department before declaring this major; this would normally be done at the applied music exam preceding the semester of declaration. Transfer students are required to complete at least 13 credit hours of their major at Hood, including 6 credits of applied music, MUSC 301, the junior recital, the independent study in piano pedagogy and the senior project in piano pedagogy.
