Giving Tuesday

This semester, our students adjusted to a new way of learning that combined in-classroom instruction with a new dependence on technology through online learning. Not only did students have a rigorous and condensed semester, but they also faithfully abided by the many new health and safety protocols to keep themselves and all of us healthy. Together, we made it to the end of the semester and students are home for the holidays.

Today is Giving Tuesday (December 1) – the international day of giving – when we give back to philanthropic causes that are important to us.

This Giving Tuesday, Hood College’s goal is to exceed 250 donors to our 24-hour campaign while unlocking nearly $40,000 in additional gifts to the Hood Fund.

  • 40 donors – Unlocks Malinda “Lindy” Small '81 $1,000 gift
  • 81 donors – Unlocks Marcy Goldberg Taylor ’81, MBA ’00 $8,100 gift
  • 150 donors – Unlocks Generous, Anonymous Alumna $10,000 gift
  • 200 donors – Unlocks Marlene Grossnickle Young ’76, H’14, P’09 $10,000 gift
  • 250 donors – Unlocks Mark Friis M.A. ’82 $10,000 gift

Your gift to the Hood Fund provides a healthy, safe environment, scholarships and financial aid, academic-resources, athletic equipment, extra-curricular activities and so much more!

This semester, our student athletes faced challenges to ensure the health and safety of our campus community. Although things look different at Hood, what has not changed is the commitment our student athletes have to their education and to developing their individual skills to ensure they are ready for the first opportunity to compete again.

Today on Giving Tuesday - our competition comes as a fundraising challenge against six other schools from our conference: Arcadia University, Delaware Valley University, King’s College, Lebanon Valley College, Messiah University, Stevenson University.

Help us garner the highest number of participating donors AND the most dollars donated to win our conference. Join our team and help us win by making your gift now!

To stay competitive in this Athletic Giving Tuesday challenge, our goal is to reach 100 donors which will unlock nearly $4,000 in additional gifts to the Blue & Grey Club for student athletes.

  • 15 donors - Unlocks Dr. Susan Kolb - $50 gift
  • 25 donors - Unlocks Kayla Knott Youngblood ’17 - $150 gift
  • 60 donors - Unlocks Joy Miller Beveridge ’82 - $1,200 gift
  • 100 donors - Unlocks Dorianna Colon Rice ’88 - $2,500 gift

The Blue & Grey Club helps build a stronger athletic program while also assisting in the education of our student athletes. Your gift will support purchasing of team equipment, training room supplies, weight room and conditioning machines while continuing to ensure a healthy, safe environment for student athletes.
