International Education Week

Hood College is proud to celebrate its inaugural International Education Week during the week of November 18 - 22, 2019. We encourage all Hood students, faculty and staff to participate in our week of events!


International Education Week (IEW), November 18-22, 2019, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of a national effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Nov 18 - 22, 2019

Monday, Nov 18
Parade of Flags | 4:30 - 5:30 P.M. Front steps of Coblentz Hall
Hood students will march from Hood's Rosemont Ave. gates to the steps of Coblentz Hall. This opening event will include a blessing by Rev. O'Malley and remarks by President Chapdelaine and Paige Eager, Ph.D.

Tuesday, Nov 19
Diwali Celebration | 4:30 - 6 P.M. Whitaker 220
Celebration of the Indian/Nepali festival of lights. Food/drinks, dancing and henna tattoos.

Wednesday, Nov 20
International Student Lunch | noon - 1 P.M. Whitaker 220
Special lunch event to honor our international community. Open to all.

Thursday. Nov 21
International Tea Tasting | 1 - 7 P.M. Whitaker Atrium
Tea tasting featuring teas from around the word.

Friday, Nov 22
International Festival | 6 - 9 P.M. Brodbeck Hall
Hood's Saudi Student Association-organized annual International Festival celebrating Hood’s cultural diversity. Food, drinks, special entertainment, and henna tattoos.

Friday, March 29, 2019 marked a day of fun and celebration when Hood College students from different cultures came together to explore their unique heritages at the International Festival organized by Hood College’s Saudi Student Association.
