The indoor mask mandate on campus will be lifted effective Thursday, March 3 at 8 a.m. The following are exceptions where/when masks are still required indoors:

  • In the Health and Counseling Center,
  • By people with symptoms of illness,
  • By people in days 6-10 following a positive COVID-19 test (after a five-day isolation);
  • By people in days 1-10 after an exposure to someone with COVID-19, and
  • Individuals who are not up to date on their vaccines (not yet boosted or have a medical/spiritual exemption)

For most of the past two years, we have been wearing masks indoors. To some, especially those with health concerns, a mask is a way to feel more protected. For others, this will be a day of joy and celebration. No one should feel shame for choosing to continue to wear a mask, nor should anyone feel guilty for being happy to take their mask off.

Individuals may request others to wear a mask in their presence in an enclosed space, such as offices, classrooms and labs, and as members of the Hood community, I expect us all to be respectful of and to comply with such requests. N-95 and KN-95 masks continue to be available at the Whitaker Switchboard for community members who wish to continue using them.
