President Andrea E. Chapdelaine, Ph.D., was formally inaugurated as the 11th president of Hood College Oct. 17. Approximately 500 alumni, faculty, staff, students, community members, and representatives of colleges, universities and learned organizations attended the ceremony in the Hodson Outdoor Theater.
In her inaugural address titled “Partnerships: Working Together for a Great Institution,” President Chapdelaine talked about her plans and hopes for Hood in the coming years. She also said Hood College students, faculty and staff exemplify a spirit of civic engagement and thanked them for their volunteerism. Civic Engagement Awareness Week, preceding President Chapdelaine’s Inauguration, was dedicated to giving back to the community. Throughout the week, approximately 125 members of the Hood College faculty, staff and students signed up to participate in local service projects, resulting in 431 completed service hours.
