Where can I find information about the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory Grade Option?
  • Undergraduate students can find the policy here
  • Graduate students can find the policy here.
How do I get advisor or instructor approval on forms remotely?

The Registrar’s office can accept emails from faculty, acknowledging and approving specific information and requests at registrar@hood.edu (undergraduate) or hoodgrad@hood.edu (graduate), in lieu of physical signatures on forms.

Does the S/U apply to all of my classes or can I choose which class(es) I want to change to S/U?

Students may select which classes they wish to change to S/U.  That could be any or all classes.

If I choose the S/U option, can I later switch back to the letter grade?

The deadline for submission of the S/U form is May 1, which provides adequate time to make this important decision. Once the grade change of S/U has been made and a final grade of S or U has been entered, grades will not be changed back to the letter grade option.

How do I withdraw from a class?

While the college is operating remotely, course withdrawal may be completed following the steps outlined below.  If you have questions about what it means to withdraw from a course and its implications on your student record, please contact your academic advisor or email the Registrar’s Office at registrar@hood.edu. We’re here to help!

Undergraduate Students Course Withdrawal:
  1. From your Hood College email account, email registrar@hood.edu request for a course withdrawal.
  2. Include your student ID#, course number, and section (ex. GNST 101-01)

  5. You will NOT be required to obtain permission or signatures from the Dean of Students, Athletics, or Residence Life.

How do I access my midterm grades?

Midterm grades were due from instructors on 3/30/2020. You may access this information by navigating to Self-Service > Grades tab > Grade Report. Please note that some grades may be missing if your instructor has not assigned a midterm grade. Additionally, some instructors may also post grades on Blackboard.  We encourage you to contact your instructor if you have specific questions regarding your midterm academic standing, as well as your academic advisor to identify campus resources that may enhance your academic performance.

If you have a hold on your account, you can still review your grades by navigating to Self-Service > Reports (located on the lower right side of the homepage) > Midterm Grading Report. Please note that certain holds will prohibit course registration for the upcoming term.  If you have a hold on your account for any reason, please contact the department that has placed the hold in an effort to resolve the issue.  Once the hold is released, you will be able to register for future courses. For more information regarding holds click here.

Where can I find help for my undergraduate classes, tutoring, or advising?

Staff in the Student Success Center (formerly CAAR) are working remotely but available to fully support our undergraduate students! Email will be the best and quickest route of communication. If you’re unsure where to turn, email or academicservices@hood.edu. Detailed information is available on the Student Success Center website.
