Financial Aid

Your Education Is Worth the Investment

At Hood College, we believe that a transformative education should be both accessible and affordable. A Hood education empowers students to grow academically, professionally, and personally while preparing them to lead lives of purpose and impact.

The Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping students and families navigate the financial aid process with confidence. We understand that financing a college education is an important investment, and our team is here to provide personalized guidance and support every step of the way.

Financial Aid at Hood

Each year, Hood awards more than $40 million in financial aid to undergraduate students through scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment opportunities. Most students receive some form of financial assistance, and we encourage every family to explore the resources available to them.

Start with the FAFSA

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step toward accessing many forms of financial aid, including federal grants and loans, state assistance programs, and Hood's need-based aid. Filing your FAFSA early ensures that you receive full consideration for available financial aid opportunities.

Before beginning your FAFSA form, please create your FSA ID. Students (and parent or spouse, if applicable) should request their FSA ID at least 3 days in advance of completing the FAFSA. A parent or spouse without a Social Security Number will be able to get an FSA ID.

If the parents of a dependent student are not married, the parent who provides the greater portion of the student’s financial support is used on the FAFSA even if the student lives with the other parent or the other parent has custody. A remarried parent must include their spouse’s (the student’s stepparent) income.

If required, the student and spouse or parent will need to complete 2024 taxes with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
