Exhibition Highlighting Ceramic Manufacturing Processes to Open in Whitaker Gallery

"The Art of Industry" by MFA Candidate Emily Hampton

Hood Ceramic Arts MFA candidate Emily Hampson has been studying the crossover between art and industry within the field of ceramics. In “The Art of Industry,” Hampson pieces together the results of her studies to show not only the products that she has created using different ceramic manufacturing processes, but the very processes themselves.

Viewers are able to see the steps of ceramic manufacturing processes firsthand via videos created by Hampton, as well as displays of tools, molds, tests and other apparatuses that are key to the process of creating ceramics.

“The Art of Industry” exhibition is free and open to the public within the Whitaker Gallery from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from June 5 to 16. A reception with Hampton will take place on June 9 from 5 to 7 p.m., with an artist talk at 6 p.m.
