Hood College Scholarships (TEST)

 

  • Alumni of the Last Three Years (ALTY) Scholarship Recent Hood alums, who graduated with a bachelor's degree in the last three years, are welcomed back to campus (or online) to pursue a graduate degree. ALTY scholars will benefit from the following: last three credits at no cost, undergraduate credits applied to master's degrees (based on major and grad degree), expedited admission decision for recent alumni, priority consideration for TA/GA positions, and more.   • The Association of Medical Diagnostics Manufacturers Scholarship Established in 2010 by the Association of Medical Diagnostics Manufacturers, this scholarship fund provides annual scholarships in the area of Regulatory Compliance for Hood College students. The funds are intended to assist students in need of financial support for their education and to contribute to the quality of future regulatory affairs professionals. Recipients are selected based on their enrollment and performance in key related courses (e.g., BMS 542).
     
  • The Dr. Ann L. Boyd Biomedical Science Graduate Scholarship Established in 2019 by Ann L. Boyd, professor emerita of biology, and supported by alumni of the biomedical science program, the scholarship shall be awarded annually to a graduate student enrolled in the program who works full time, has completed at least 12 credits of coursework and has a minimum GPA of 3.3, to assist with the cost of two academic classes per year.
     
  • CoLAB Scholarship Starting in fall 2022, The Graduate School at Hood College will be awarding a limited number of CoLAB scholarships in the amount of $2500 each to eligible new Hood graduate students in the fields of Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, and Computer Science (data science track only). This new scholarship fund was established by Greater Washington Partnership and Hood College to provide scholarship support to diverse student populations with a preference for those that are underrepresented in the digital tech profession. To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, you must be admitted to one of our computing fields listed above, be a U.S citizen or permanent resident, and demonstrate financial need by having a current FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) application on file with Hood College’s Financial Aid office. Please submit a copy of your FAFSA application to gofurther@hood.edu by August 15th for consideration. Hood College's school code is 002076 for FAFSA purposes.
     
  • The Community Foundation of Frederick County is committed to helping students who are pursuing a post-secondary education. Some scholarships are available to those enrolled or planning to enroll in graduate programs. To be considered for Community Foundation scholarships, applicants must complete the online application. Applications are generally due during the month of March each year. Visit their site for exact deadlines and requirements.
     
  • The Elizabeth Peters-Barbara Michaels Scholarship Fund Established in 1990 by Barbara Mertz, the scholarship is awarded annually to a student(s) based on writing ability and financial need. The purpose of this fund is to encourage underrepresented women to enter the field of writing, with the hope that they might consider a career that focuses on the genre of the mystery novel. Strong preference will be given to a student from an underrepresented background, particularly if she has exhibited both a potential ability and an interest in writing. Scholarship awards will be prioritized first for undergraduate students selected by the English department faculty and then for graduate students selected by the creative writing MFA program faculty.
     
  • The Nora Roberts Creative Writing MFA ScholarshipFunded in 2024 through the Nora Roberts Foundation Writer-in-Residence Program established by the Nora Roberts Foundation, the scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in the creative writing MFA program with priority given to those with financial need and academic merit.
     
  • The Emerging Community Leaders Doctoral Scholarship Established in 2023 by Hood College alumnus, this scholarship, amounting to $5,000, will be granted once in their first cohort year to an individual working for an educational system, institution or a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. During this initial year in the Doctorate of Organizational Leadership (DOL) program, the recipient will receive $2,500 in the fall and another $2,500 in the spring. This scholarship is not renewable after the first year for the recipient.
     
  • The Frederick Chess Club Scholarship Established in 2023 by the Frederick Chess Club, this scholarship is an annual grant of $1,500 designated for a Hood College graduate student who demonstrates financial need, regardless of their chosen program of study. Preferably, the scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who either has an affinity for or actively participates in the game of chess.
     
  • Nancy Logan Roe Hebdon ’69 Scholarship for Mathematics Teachers Established in 2022 by Frederick J. Hebdon in memory of his wife, Nancy Roe Hebdon ’69, the scholarship shall be awarded annually to a graduate student(s) in the mathematics education program or mathematics instructional leadership program who demonstrates financial need. This scholarship will be issued in fall 2024 for the first time.
     
  • HRSA Scholarship for Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. If you are interested in working with marginalized communities, explore our HRSA Scholarship, which promotes diversity of licensed counselors in under-served regions of the country. This opportunity is generously funded by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).  To learn more, simply select the option that indicates you are interested in applying for the HRSA Scholarship on the online application for admission to our clinical mental health program. Your complete application is not a guarantee of funding.
     
  • Hodson Trust Scholarships for Children of Former Beneficial Employees Children of former full-time Beneficial employees, with two or more years of service with Beneficial Corporation and its subsidiaries immediately prior to June 30, 1998 are potential candidates for these full-tuition scholarships for undergraduate and graduate study at Hood College. All scholarship recipients must be enrolled on a full-time basis.
     
  • The Dr. Mary F. Kearney ’96, M.S.’01 and Dr. Ann L. Boyd STEM Scholarship Established in 2018 by Mary Frances Kearney ’96, M.S.’01 and Ann L. Boyd, professor emerita of biology, the scholarship is awarded annually to a female graduate student(s) enrolled in a STEM-related graduate program who exhibits academic excellence and financial need.
     
  • Joyce Michaud Endowed Scholarship Established in 2020 by Eryk Nice and his wife, Robin, in honor of his mother, Joyce Michaud, professor emerita of art and founder and former director of the ceramic arts program at Hood College. Following guidelines established by the Hood College Board of Trustees, Hood College shall award the scholarship annually to a student, with preference, in the following order:  1.  A Ceramics graduate student (MA, MFA, or Certificate)  2.  Any graduate student taking Ceramics or Studio Art coursework  3.  An undergraduate student minoring or concentrating in Studio Art. The award shall be designated by the Director of Financial Aid at Hood College and in conjunction with either the Dean of the Graduate School and/or the Chair of the Art Department.  All other criteria being equal, the qualified applicant demonstrating financial need will be selected.  The selected recipient each year is encouraged to follow up with Joyce and/or her family members by sending them a copy of their thesis and/or an invitation to attend their final exhibition, and/or a project completed in that academic year.
     
  • Morrow Scholarship Endowment Originally established in 1990 and modified in 2021 by Linda MacDonough Morrow '62, the scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate student(s) studying nutrition.
     
  •  The Benjamine Cawley Parrott Endowment for the Sciences Established in 2006 by Cheryl D. Parrott M.A.’06, H’09, in memory of her father, Benjamine Cawley Parrott, the scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate student(s) who has a record of high academic achievement, is in need of financial assistance and is majoring in the biological or physical sciences or engineering.
     
  • The Ifeoluwa O. Popoola M.S.’16 Scholarship Established in 2017 by Ifeoluwa O. Popoola M.S.’16, the scholarship is awarded annually to an international graduate student who exhibits academic excellence and financial need, and is enrolled full time in the computer science or information technology graduate program.
     
  • The Philip S. Renaud II M.S.’83 Scholarship Established in 2016 by Philip S. Renaud II M.S.’83, the scholarship is awarded annually to undergraduate students with financial need majoring in business administration or accounting, and to graduate students with financial need in the Master of Business Administration program.
