The Graduate School at Hood College presented the 2019 Dr. Mary F. Kearney Outstanding Bioinformatics Student Award to Jennifer Brown, current graduate student in Hood College's Bioinformatics program. This award is funded by Mary Frances Kearney.

Jen is the Research & Development Project Manager and Bioinformatician for the NIH AIDS Reagent Program.

During her time there, Jen has developed a pipeline for analyzing HIV viral sequences.   For her capstone project, Jen developed a novel bioinformatics pipeline for de novo assembly of plasmids for the AIDS Reagent Program.
