Tanith Fowler Corsi, Director of Graduate Admission

Meet Tanith Fowler Corsi, director of graduate admissions by day, French tutor by night. Learn more about a typical day in the life of Tanith, from her daily tasks at the graduate school to her life outside the office.

Can you describe a typical day in the Graduate School for you?

As director of graduate admission, I divide my time between leading our graduate recruitment/enrollment strategy and directly managing the graduate programs I oversee, which include the counseling master’s programs, the new counseling doctoral program, the educational leadership master’s and certificate programs, the Doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Doctorate in Business Administration, as well as the thanatology and trauma graduate certificate programs. A typical day might involve setting up our upcoming graduate recruitment events, communicating with prospective graduate applicants via email or phone and meeting with my awesome graduate admission team.

What activities after work hours keep you busy?

Outside of my work duties, I organize the weekly Hood lunchtime yoga classes, which are open to Hood students, staff and faculty free of charge in partnership with Life’s Work Yoga studio. I also tutor French on the side to non-native speakers and enjoy spending time with my family and friends on the weekend. Currently, I am very involved with my son’s college search, as he is getting ready to graduate high school, and I am proud to say he will be a Blazer next fall!

How do your work and after-work activities complement each other?

They are a great balance for the mind and spirit, and I enjoy being able to tap into my spiritual and physical side with yoga, as well as connect with my European side when I tutor French.

What is your favorite part of working in the Graduate School?

I truly love my work team, our beautiful campus and our warm community. I have worked at many institutions of higher education throughout my career, and I can honestly say that Hood College is my favorite by far—it has such a magic and unique feel to it!

What would you tell someone thinking about a graduate degree, but who may be doubting their ability to balance it all?

Carpe Diem—go for it! There is never a perfect time, but time will pass the same whether you get a graduate degree or not, so you might as well get one. The payoff will be well worth it, personally and professionally.

What has been your most memorable experience since working for the Graduate School?

For me, every workday is memorable, but I especially love when our team holds our team retreats and end of semester gatherings because there is so much appreciation and fun and good humor. Our team has a very good synergy, and our diverse backgrounds create a beautiful cultural mosaic.
