The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) is the first stop for information and assistance to support students with disabilities at Hood College.
The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) provides many types of academic support services to qualified students with disabilities. Hood College's Office of Accessibility Services staff works closely with students, faculty and other departments such as the Office of Student Success to implement necessary academic accommodations.
We strive to reduce the impact of a disability on a student’s opportunity to learn and participate in College life. Students who self-identify and provide appropriate documentation of a disability are eligible for reasonable accommodations as described in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act and amendments.
We encourage students to actively participate in managing their educational success and to meet with the Office of Accessibility Services staff as early as possible to ensure adequate time to put accommodations into place.

We encourage all students with disabilities to reach out to the Office of Accessibility Services to make accommodation requests. If you are not sure if you qualify for accommodations, please contact our office so we can assist you with your questions.
Hood College faculty are required to provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with documentation issued by the Office of Accessibility Services as long as they will not cause an undue financial burden or that would affect the integrity of their courses.
Academic Accommodations are not retroactive and it is recommended they be requested before the start of each semester.

Students with disabilities have the responsibility to:
Meet qualifications and maintain essential standards for courses, programs, services, and activities
Identify as an individual with a disability when an accommodation is needed and to seek information, counsel, and assistance as necessary
Demonstrate and/or document (from an appropriate professional) how the disability limits their participation in courses, programs, services and activities
Follow established procedures for obtaining information, services, and reasonable accommodations
Notify the Office of Accessibility Services of changes in disability status (i.e., worsening of condition, new diagnosis), class/course changes, and challenges encountered
