The Graduate School at Hood College presented the 2019 Carlo and Valerie Bagni Outstanding Biomedical Science Student Award to Allison Poore, a current graduate student in Hood College's Biomedical Science program. This award is funded by Dr. Rachel Bagni ’99 in honor of her parents Carlo and Valerie Bagni.

Allison works for Leidos Biomedical Research supporting the National Cancer Institute and the Frederick National Labs for Cancer Research.  She works in animal diagnostics as a molecular biologist.

Allison wrote her master’s thesis on a test she developed to detect mouse fur mites, which cause serious infection in laboratory mice.  The test she designed has both improved the accuracy of detection and decreased the cost of monitoring animals for this arachnid.

Congratulations Allison - we wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
