Safe Harvest Provides Kid-Friendly Halloween Activities

FREDERICK, Maryland—Area children and their parents will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat on the Hood College campus as part of a student-run Halloween celebration starting at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the Whitaker Campus Center Commons.

Safe Harvest will provide games, arts and crafts, activities and other entertainment. Event participants are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes. Children aged 12 and under and their parents will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat throughout Hood’s five student residence halls and the Marx Center. Trick-or-treat groups will begin departing from Whitaker at 5:15 p.m, and the last group will depart at 7:30 p.m.

Hood students started Safe Harvest a number of years ago to create a traditional Halloween with fall activities in a safe environment. It is an alternative to trick-or-treating in the surrounding neighborhoods. Parents or guardians are required to accompany their children throughout the evening.

The event is sponsored by the Hood College Chapter of the Mortar Board honor society, a National Senior Honor Society promoting service, leadership and scholarship among college seniors nationwide. For more information about the event, contact Ashley Carter at anc5@hood.edu.
