Daehwan Kim, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of biology and teaches biology of food & nutrition, undergraduate level lab courses, and introductory fermentation. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at Korea University and in Biotechnology at Yonsei University, South Korea.

He joined a company as a researcher, NongShim R&D Center that is one of the largest food and biotechnology conglomerates in Asia (http://www.nongshimusa.com/), where he was involved and participated in the development, testing, and patenting of more than 10 varieties of processed food products.

He transitioned from industry back to academia and completed his Ph.D. in Agricultural & Biological Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette, studying bioprocessing, pretreatment, enzyme, microbial and engineering principles for efficient conversion of biomass to ethanol.
