- Associate Professor of English
A minor in literature is more than just a chance to read and discuss some great books (though of course it is that!).
It’s also an opportunity to practice many of the skills that employers today are looking for, such as reading critically and communicating clearly, thinking in flexible and creative ways, and working well with others.
In short, a literature minor helps to make you a well-rounded individual who’s ready not just to succeed in a career, but also to build a life that is productive, thoughtful, and engaged with the world that we live in.
The minor requires a minimum of 15 credits in literature at the 200 level or above, which must include one course in Genre Studies (ENGL 270 – 289) and one course in Thematic Studies (ENGL 250 – 269), as well as two literature courses at the 300 – 400 level.
