Dan Forgosh (B.S. '19) is a student in the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology. This year, he will be graduating with the degree in computer science and will also be the only student graduating with the web development minor.

He is also the only computer science student admitted to the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society, an honor bestowed upon students that are academically at the top of their class. But Dan's academic achievements have already been recognized by the Department last year, when he received the 2018 Computer Science Undergraduate Achievement Award which is awarded to a senior who has demonstrated continued achievement in the field of computer science.

This year, he was also recognized with an Exceptional Service to the Department Award in recognition of his dedication and active contributions to the life of the Department.

In multiple occasions, Dan, often without being asked, volunteered his time and skills to help the department's efforts to promote computing and our programs. For example, he made the beautiful departmental graphic that is used extensively in all of the department's publications, social media channels and any promotional material ranging from presentations to flyers posted all over campus.

He also used his skills from his web development courses to create two Snapchat filters for Hood College, a logo for Hood College's History Club, as well as other digital art for other professional publications. He has also used his skills as a computer scientist to actively create and publicly release software outside the classroom that includes a programming language, four mobile applications, and a complex computer text editor.

We are very proud of Dan's continuous engagement with the Department, his "can do" and always available to help and give back attitude. His ethos of service, contributions and eagerness to use what he has been learning in the computer science program to help others has been remarkable.

Congratulations to Dan for his tireless service and commitment to the Department, the College and the discipline.

We are sure he will continue doing great things after graduation.
