Why did you choose Hood?

I loved the beautiful campus, kind people, and the small class sizes.

Career Goals – what do you hope to do after you graduate from Hood?

I hope to become an elementary teacher in Frederick County.

Tell us about a professor who has had an impact on your life at Hood.

I have wonderful things to say about every professor I have had, especially my education professors, who really want their students to succeed!

What has been your favorite class so far? Why?

I have enjoyed all of my classes! They have taught me to think critically. I particularly like my science and social studies class for education because I have learned some really cool and engaging activities to use in my classroom. I have found it really beneficial to see all the different ways to integrate science and social studies in other academic areas. In addition, I have really enjoyed learning how to teach students, and my classes and professors are really helping to prepare me to becoke a great teacher!

Have you had any internships?

I have had internships for three semesters with my education major. They have all been a half day per week in an elementary or middle school. My internships have been in a fourth grade class at Monocacy Elementary School, fifth grade at Spring Ridge Elementary School, and this semester I am in sixth grade at Walkersville middle school. I am looking forward to my internships next year, for I will be in the schools much more- three days a week first semester, and every day second semester. I am excited to be able to teach more!

What other opportunities have you had at Hood?

I have enjoyed being apart of many clubs and honor societies on campus, and assuming some leadership roles in these clubs. I have been in the Dance Ensemble and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship all three of my years at Hood so far. Also, I have been in the Commuter Council for two years, and am the president of this club this year. In addition, I am treasurer of the Education Association club, which I have been in for two years. I was also in Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, and the Ionic Honor Society. Next, for two semesters I have had my workstudy in the global languages department, and this semester, my workstudy is for the Doctoral Program of Organizational Leadership.

Did you receive a scholarship?

I received the Hodson Trust scholarship. This is important to me because my hard work is being recognized. In addition, the scholarship helps me be able to attend Hood College and achieve my dreams!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

Although I love sitting by the water fountain and being inside the Pergola, my favorite spot on campus is sitting at the tables behind Whitaker. I get to sit with my friend, do homework, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!

What is your favorite place in Frederick?

I love downtown Frederick. It is great to walk around on the weekends or during a first Saturday. There is events like “In The Streets” and the “fire and ice” first Saturday is always fun to go to. There are many great restraunts, unique shops, and the Maryland Ensemble Theater as well as the Weinberg, which offer interesting shows. You can walk there directly from Hood and enjoy an evening or afternoon with friends!
