Date Announced for Green Neighbor Festival

FREDERICK, Maryland—Plans are underway and vendor registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Green Neighbor Festival on May 12, 2018, at Culler Lake in Baker Park in Frederick. This is a family-friendly event and is free and open to the public.

This year, the goal of the event is to highlight environmentally friendly living practices by providing education and ideas to the community to live more sustainably, conserve resources and shop at local green businesses in Frederick County. Last year’s event attracted nearly 1,000 attendees, and more are anticipated this year. Event organizers are expanding the day’s activities and entertainment to include live acoustic music, a sustainability bike ride around Frederick, sustainable-minded vendors, family-friendly environmental education, sustainability living tips, electric vehicle displays and more. Music will be provided during the festival by Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise (FAME). Additional activities are being planned before and after festival hours, and the schedule of events will be announced closer to the event date.

Vendors from local businesses and not-for-profit organizations promoting sustainable products and practices are welcome to apply for a space. There are also sponsorship opportunities available to support various educational programming throughout the day. Applications for vendors and sponsors will be accepted until April 2, 2018; register at ccws.hood.edu/green-neighbor-festival. Food vendor applications are being accepted by invitation only. For more information about being a vendor, contact Peter Brehm, president of Friends of Baker Park, at brehm@hood.edu.
