Biography

Dr. Maria Taylor is a scholar and educator whose work examines the systemic barriers that shape the health and well-being of marginalized populations. Grounded in principles of cultural humility, her research focuses on the social determinants of health inequities that affect treatment adherence among individuals living with chronic illness, as well as the vicarious and social-emotional impacts of educators’ well-being on student outcomes.

Dr. Taylor teaches across the social work curriculum, including Human Lifecycle, Introduction to Social Work, Clinical Methods, and Research Methods. She earned both her M.S.S.W. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Outside of academia, Dr. Taylor is the proud parent of three “adulting” children and shares her home with four beloved dogs.
