The sports entertainment and marketing minor combines the study of communications, economics and management. You will explore the latest trends in marketing, media relations, sales and management strategies related to the ever-evolving sports and entertainment industries.
The 18-credit program consists of six courses: five required and one elective. Courses are interdisciplinary by design and offered jointly through the Delaplaine School of Business and the Department of English and Communication Arts. You will also have the opportunity to complete a personalized, hands-on internship with a local sports or entertainment company.
The sports and entertainment marketing minor is open to any undergraduate major.

Sales and business development – Generate revenue by identifying new business opportunities and selling sponsorships, merchandise, ticket packages or media rights.
Sports marketing managers – Oversee marketing strategies that promote athletes, teams, leagues or events to increase public engagement and revenue.
Media and content creation – Produce digital, written, audio or visual content that enhances fan engagement and drives brand visibility.
Sports/entertainment agent – Manage the careers of athletes or entertainers, focusing on negotiating contracts, endorsement deals and public image.
Account executive – Act as a liaison between clients (brands or sponsors) and sports teams or entertainment property to ensure activation of sponsorships and marketing initiatives.
Event and venue management – Plan, organize and manage live sports or entertainment events within arenas, stadiums, theaters or festivals.
