Education Funding
The following scholarship is available for students in the mathematics education (M.S.) and mathematics instructional leadership (M.S.) programs.
- Nancy Logan Roe Hebdon ’69 Scholarship for Mathematics Teachers. Eligible students are nominated by faculty; no application is required. Hood College awards this scholarship annually to graduate student(s) with demonstrated financial need. Recipient(s) are selected by the program director(s) of the M.S. in Mathematics Education and M.S. in Mathematics Instructional Leadership programs.
Direct Payment Programs
Hood College partners with both Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) to help eligible educators pursue graduate study, though the payment processes differ.
Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS)
Eligible FCPS employees may participate in the FCPS Direct Pay program. Once a course is approved by FCPS, tuition is paid directly to Hood College by FCPS.
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Teachers enrolled in the MCPS Educational Leadership cohort participate in a tuition reimbursement arrangement. Hood College bills MCPS for the approved tuition amount, which typically covers approximately 90% of the course cost. Students are responsible for paying the remaining balance before enrolling in their next course or semester.
For eligibility requirements and approval procedures, please contact your school system's Human Resources (HR) office
Cohort Agreements
Hood College’s educational leadership (M.S. and certificate) program has a formal partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) that provides reduced tuition for dedicated cohorts of students. Through this partnership, MCPS participants follow the school system's tuition reimbursement process, while benefiting from courses designed specifically for aspiring school leaders. In addition, Hood College employs local system administrators as adjunct faculty, enabling instruction grounded in local case studies and current district initiatives. Frequent guest speakers from MCPS leadership further enrich the learning experience and help prepare future educational leaders.
