Georgia Braun wears many hats in her role as executive assistant to the Dean. When she isn't coordinating events or planning team agendas, she plays lead guitar in a band and creates music for her own solo act. Learn more about how her work at Hood meshes with her creative passions!

Tell us about yourself.

I'm a Virginia native, but I'm proud to call Frederick my adopted home. Before joining The Graduate School at Hood College, I worked as an administrator at a small private school in Loudoun County, where I developed a passion for supporting students and helping them succeed. In my free time, I love exploring everything Frederick has to offer. Whether it's catching a local band, discovering a new restaurant or simply spending time on Market Street, you'll usually find me out and about on the weekends.

What do you do at Hood?

As the executive assistant and events manager for the Graduate School, I wear a lot of hats, which is part of what makes the role so rewarding. I help manage Dean Boulton's schedule, support Graduate Student Association initiatives and coordinate events of all sizes. No two days are exactly alike, and I enjoy the variety and problem-solving that come with the position.

Tell us about your music.

I'm involved with several bands in the Frederick music community. I occasionally play lead guitar with an Americana band called Undertone, and I also write and perform original music as a solo artist. One of the things I love most about the local scene is how collaborative and supportive it is. Musicians are constantly joining each other's projects, sharing ideas and encouraging one another. These days, I've taken a step back from performing to focus on writing and recording new material.

Anything else you'd like to share?

I'm excited to share that I was recently admitted to the Humanities program here at the Grad School! It's a unique opportunity to experience Hood from a new perspective, and I'm looking forward to officially becoming a Blazer!
