Why did you choose Hood College?

When Hood College and Fort Detrick signed an educational agreement to provide discounted graduate education for active duty Fort Detrick soldiers, the value proposition became impossible to ignore.

Depending on the soldier's tuition assistance (TA) eligibility, tuition at Hood College can cost zero out of pocket.  Additionally, Hood graduate classes are held once a week in the evening, causing little disruption to daytime military duties.

What is it like serving on active duty while also being a Hood graduate student?

Hood College faculty and students have been welcoming as well as considerate of the responsibilities that coincide with active duty service.

Occasionally, the culture clash between military structure and a college campus is jarring but in a refreshing way. Being able to debate, learn and interact with peers outside of the military continues to provide fresh perspectives I can employ during duty hours.

Time management is paramount in being successful in both spheres simultaneously.

What advice would you give fellow service members in regards to pursuing higher education?

Military education benefits and opportunities are woefully underutilized. Please don't make that mistake!

What do you enjoy most about the MBA program at Hood College?

The Hood MBA program is my first experience at a smaller institution; classes are intimate in the best way.

Hood professors know your name and genuinely care about your experience. There is a willingness to tailor the curriculum to the interests and experiences of the students.

How do you think the graduate program will help you in your career and future endeavors?

Answering that question is difficult as I embarked on this educational journey to fulfill personal interests rather than career goals.

In essence, an MBA is a degree in leadership and decision making, two attributes that are sought after in any career field. No matter what my future holds, the lessons learned at Hood College will be beneficial.
