Hood College Names Marc Goldman Director of Center for Career Development and Experiential Education

Hood College has appointed Marc Goldman as the new director of the Catherine Filene Shouse Center for Career Development and Experiential Education, bringing more than 30 years of experience in career development, higher education and student and alumni engagement to the College. Goldman began at Hood on Oct. 1.

"I am excited to lead the Center for Career Development and Experiential Education at Hood College. The Center has already been doing great work educating and supporting students and alumni as well as partnering with employers, faculty, and campus colleagues,” said Goldman. “Frederick is a vibrant community with a diversity of industries already tapping the Hood talent pool and we hope to grow even more of a presence locally, regionally, and beyond to create new opportunities for our students."

Goldman joins Hood from Alvernia University, where he has served as director of the Office of Career Development since 2024. In that role, he provided strategic leadership for the university's career development efforts, coached students and alumni on career planning and transitions, and developed partnerships with employers to create experiential learning and internship opportunities. He also helped increase employer registration for Alvernia's fall career fair by nearly 50% in one year.

Prior to Alvernia, Goldman served for six years as executive director of the Center for Career Engagement at Gettysburg College. There, he increased overall unique student engagement from 47% to nearly 70% and led initiatives connecting students with alumni, employers and experiential learning opportunities.

The Center for Career Development and Experiential Education at Hood College supports Hood students and alumni as they explore career paths, develop professional skills, pursue internships and experiential learning opportunities, and transition from college to meaningful careers.
