Hood College Welcomes 390 New Students to Campus on Move-In Day
305 first-year, 85 transfer undergraduate students call Hood their Home

A Hood College student and their family arrive on campus to move into Smith Hall
FREDERICK, Md., – Hood College welcomed 390 new Blazers this weekend as the Class of 2030 and incoming transfer students moved in on Thursday, August 13.
Following Move-In, students began new student orientation, introducing them to the resources and support available on campus and in the surrounding Frederick community. Students received their “Dinks,” traditional Hood headwear issued to new students, during the traditional Dinking Ceremony, and formally began the new academic year at the College’s annual Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, August 15.
Incoming Undergraduate Class Profile
The incoming undergraduate students, comprised of 305 first-year and 85 transfer students, hail from 24 different states as well as Washington, D.C., and two different countries outside of the United States. The top four most popular majors amongst the Class of 2030 include nursing, business administration, psychology and computer science.
Of the 390 incoming students, 140 plan to participate in Blazer athletics, with 22, 20 and 14 students joining the Blazer men’s lacrosse, baseball, and field hockey teams, respectively.
Incoming Graduate Class Profile
In addition to the incoming undergraduates, the Graduate School at Hood College also welcomed 198 new students, with 48 having joined this summer and 140 beginning this fall. The incoming graduate students join Hood from 15 different states and Washington, D.C., as well as from 13 different countries outside of the United States.
Top graduate programs amongst the incoming students include the educational leadership graduate certificate, clinical mental health counseling master’s and business administration (MBA) programs.
