Pivotal MAC Conference weekend doubleheader features free admission for all with donation to Campus Cupboard

Hood College is calling on the Frederick community to show its hometown pride and support the women’s basketball team and one of the top men’s basketball teams in the nation at a special “Frederick Day” game on Friday, February 14, at with the women’s tip-off at 1 p.m. and the men’s at 3 p.m. in the Ronald J. Volpe Athletic Center.

The first game features recent rivalry where the Blazers took down the Lion’s in back-to-back appearances after Albright had owned the series. Game two showcases a highly anticipated men’s match-up between the top two teams in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Hood, ranked no. 15 nationally, enters the game as the current top seed in the conference, while Albright holds the second seed, setting the stage for a high-stakes match-up on Saturday afternoon.

To encourage community participation, Hood College Athletics is offering free admission to both the men’s and women’s games to anyone who brings a donation of a non-perishable food item or hygiene product. All donated items will benefit Hood’s Campus Cupboard, the College’s on-campus food pantry that supports Hood students experiencing food insecurity.

Hood’s men’s basketball team has enjoyed a record-setting season, earning the highest-ever national ranking for any Blazer athletics program. The Blazers encourage community members to arrive early and wear blue to show their Blazer pride in their push to new program heights.
