Hood College Establishes New Blazer Club to Strengthen Support for Student-Athletes

Hood College is proud to announce the establishment the Blazer Club, a new giving society dedicated to strengthening the experience of Hood’s student-athletes and providing additional resources to support the College’s athletic programs, while offering donors more control over their gifts than ever before. 

The Blazer Club gives alumni, parents, friends and supporters of Hood Athletics an opportunity to make a direct impact on the teams and student-athletes they care about. Contributions can be directed to a specific team’s high priority needs, such as equipment, special travel, events and other needs that enhance student-athlete experiences both on and off the field. 

“The Blazer Club represents an exciting opportunity for our community to come together in support of Hood’s student-athletes,” said Sue Kolb, director of athletics at Hood College. “The generosity of our alumni, families and friends allows us to provide our teams with resources that can make a meaningful difference in their competitive and collegiate experiences.”

The overall mission of the Blazer Club is to enrich the spirit, success and experience of Hood College student-athletes through financial investment, expanded programming and partnership opportunities. The club also seeks to grow the fan base for Hood’s athletic teams and create new ways for the Hood community to engage with and support Blazer Athletics.

Membership begins with a contribution of $100 to any Hood athletic team or area of Athletics. Recent Hood alumni who graduated within the past 10 years are eligible to join with a $60 contribution, or a recurring gift of $5 per month. Members receive benefits based on their level of support, including recognition in College communications, athletic updates, priority ticketing opportunities, invitations to Athletics events and, at the highest level, membership in the Hood College President’s Club.

The Blazer Club builds on growing enthusiasm for Hood Athletics and the success of recent fundraising initiatives such as the Blazer Club Golf Tournament held in October, raising more than $30,000, and the Blazer Rush, a month-long crowdfunding success, which raised nearly $100,000 for Hood College athletics.
