Biography
Dr. Shaikh’s experience includes providing comprehensive person-centered case management services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and working with adolescents and their families at risk of involvement with Children’s Services. Dr. Shaikh has experience in a range of settings, including outpatient centers, client homes, group homes, university dorms, schools, psychiatric ER and an inpatient mental health unit.
Dr. Shaikh’s interests include bias and intolerance in helping professionals, domestic and international racism, mass incarceration, the wars on terror, intragroup and intergroup conflict, and the South Asian diaspora.
As an instructor, Dr. Shaikh seeks to guide students in utilizing humility, critical thinking, client-centeredness, and conscientiousness as the foundation of their efforts to become competent social work practitioners.
