Graduate School Partnerships

As part of Hood College's 2022-2025 strategic plan, "For a Greater Hood", the Graduate School is committed to active engagement through partnerships with education consultants, institutions and organizations both local and global.

Hood College recognizes that, in today’s global environment, collaborating with other organizations is vital to sustained innovation and growth. Expanded partnerships will facilitate students’ pathways to and from Hood College and contribute to improved graduation rates. Through partnerships, we will expand applied learning opportunities for our students. We will seek partnerships to:

    • attract qualified students
    • foster our students' academic success
    • engage our students in learning activities that make a difference in our community
    • create new internship and career opportunities for our graduate students

Hood works cooperatively and strategically with its many partners to augment student learning and enhance the quality of life in the region and beyond. Students work with our career center staff to secure volunteer positions, internships and permanent employment with our more than 600 partner organizations in government, private and nonprofit industries throughout the region.

    Direct Payment Programs
Qualified employees in the Frederick County Public School (FCPS) or Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) systems are now able to take advantage of a user friendly Direct Payment program when enrolling in graduate courses at Hood College.  To learn more about this convenient option, visit our Funding Your Education page and scroll toward the bottom for expandable menus describing the steps for Direct Pay.

    Off-Site Cohort Agreements
Hood College's Educational Leadership program has formal partnerships with two local counties, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and Washington County Public Schools (WCPS), in order to provide off-campus graduate curricula to local teachers--both master’s and certificate options. With enrollments of twelve to eighteen students, we run classes in local schools and offices, which allows us to discount certain costs and fees that would otherwise be incurred from using campus classrooms, parking, and other infrastructure. We pass these savings onto the teachers in each cohort.

In addition, we employ local system administrators as adjuncts for the in-county courses, which enables the delivery of course materials and topics using local system case studies. The local courses are further enhanced with frequent guest speakers and presenters directly from the leadership ranks of the counties. With these local system supports, we are able to design very responsive courses for future leaders of these school systems.
