Just beginning your admission journey? There is no better time to start than now! At Hood College we recommend doing the following when starting your college search.

  • Schedule a virtual visit. Virtual visits are a high impact opportunity that is low commitment since you do them from the comfort of your own home. Explore Hood College's virtual events and personalized virtual visits.
  • Figure out if colleges have your intended major. A great way to start narrowing down your list is to research the academic offerings of colleges and universities. Learn more about academics at Hood College.
  • Start looking into funding. Small, private colleges like Hood College are able to offer students scholarships and grants based on their academic and extra-curricular achievements (note: that as a NCAA Division III college we are unable to offer athletic scholarships). Learn more about scholarship and grant opportunities on our Financial Aid website. Additionally, there are unique ways to earn money to fund your education. RaiseMe is a free app that enables students in grades 9-12 to earn “micro-scholarships.” Learn more about RaiseMe. Or go to our Scholarship Searches page to learn more about outside scholarship and grant opportunities.

During your appointment our counselors can help prepare you to apply in your senior year by offering personalized guidance. Schedule your individual virtual interview.
  • Start your "short list" of colleges that you're seriously considering. As listed above one of the best ways to do this is to determine what schools have your intended major. Explore Hood College's undergraduate areas of study.
  • Begin considering your finances. As mentioned above, small, private colleges like Hood College are able to offer students scholarships and grants based on their academic and extra-curricular achievements (note: that as a NCAA Division III college we are unable to offer athletic scholarships). Learn more about scholarship and grant opportunities on our Financial Aid website. Additionally, there are unique ways to earn money to fund your education.
