About this Program

Business breakthroughs start here.

Program Overview

The entrepreneurship minor offers students an opportunity to gain a foundation in leadership and best practices aimed at creating new business ventures. Students will explore every facet of entrepreneurship—from social and behavioral aspects to investment and financing. Through coursework in marketing, management and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, students learn to approach the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The program also requires a hands-on internship to develop entrepreneurial expertise in a real-world setting.

Open to all majors, the entrepreneurship minor can be completed within two years. Students are encouraged to declare the minor along with their major.

Notes

Business administration majors cannot take MGMT 220 or MGMT 221 as their electives. Business administration majors must take three 300-level business courses as their electives. MGMT 220 and MGMT 221 are designed for students who are not business administration majors, and both courses have no prerequisites.

The following courses do have prerequisites; however, business administration majors would have completed those prerequisites for their major: MGMT 307, MGMT 313, MGMT 319, ECMG 303, MGMT 406.

MGMT 205 is the prerequisite for the three required courses in the minor and also fulfills the Social & Behavioral Sciences core requirement. While students may apply this course to core, major or minor requirements, there are limitations on the overlap of coursework between majors and minors.

The minimum number of credits required for this minor is 18. Students interested in 300-level elective courses may be required to complete 21-24 credit hours, depending on their choice of elective coursework and its related prerequisites.
