Biomedical Research & Training Center

The Hood College Biomedical Research and Training Center will offer a unique opportunity for students to receive specialized hands-on training coinciding with current industry needs.

Led jointly by Hood College faculty and scientists from regional companies, the Center will place students at the forefront of innovations in science, technology and healthcare to ensure they have the expertise needed to propel the biotechnology industry into the next generation.

The Center will provide semester-long programs specifically designed in collaboration with industry partners to provide the subject matter expertise, technology and dedicated equipment necessary to enable graduates to be successful in the next stage of their career. Through ongoing planning and shared leadership, Hood faculty and industry partners will review the latest technology to identify those areas in which to focus the curriculum and target hands-on educational methods to ensure students are well-positioned for career success.

Hood College has been an integral part of Frederick for many decades and has focused the talents of its faculty and its resources toward numerous community programs. As Frederick County and the State of Maryland expand their support to new biomedical research companies locating in our area, it is an absolute imperative for Hood to continue its tradition of community partnership by aligning its academic programs and campus facilities to support a new and highly skilled biomedical workforce. This alignment is a win-win for Hood, our students, our future corporate partners and Frederick. As the biomedical industry enters new frontiers intended to improve human health and well-being, this Center will serve as Hood’s contribution to saving lives and creating a better tomorrow.
