About this Program

Gain a broad foundation in chemistry.

Program Overview

As a chemistry minor, you will study the core concepts of chemistry as well as unique electives, including quantitative analysis, biological chemistry and quantum mechanics. The minor is an excellent complement to other life science majors like biology and sustainability studies, but also adjacent fields such as art and archaeology.

What majors pair well with the chemistry minor?

Explore complementary majors that build upon and tie into the chemistry minor.

Art and Archaeology, Archaeology Concentration

A variety of archaeology sub-disciplines (including conservation, but also materials science) require training in chemistry.

Art and Archaeology, Art History Concentration

Conservation careers often require advanced coursework in chemistry, art history and studio art.

Biology

This pairing strengthens students' grasp of the molecular mechanisms underlying biological systems.

Sustainability Studies

This is a possible pairing for students interested in examining the sustainable chemical manufacture and the use of synthetic chemicals by our society and in the natural world.
