About this Program

This minor can be combined with majors outside the department.

Program Overview

It is designed to provide students in social sciences and fields that use social science research methods (such as business administration, communication arts, education and social work) with research skills that are useful in a wide variety of job settings, including human services, education, media, marketing, politics, social action and health-related organizations.

Students who complete the minor meet practicum requirements (SOC 482) either by completing an independent semester-long research project or by working on a collaborative, community-based research project with an agency in the Frederick community.
