Hood College's Military Community Support Committee aims to support, engage, and recognize the Hood military community composed of active duty, veterans, and spouses/dependent undergraduate and graduate students.

This mission is part of Hood College's strategic plan to support our military community on campus through relevant programming and services. The Committee is divided into subcommittees focused on Veterans, Active Duty, Student Support, Staff & Faculty Support, and Community Engagement.

If you would like to join this Committee or request additional information, please email military@hood.edu.

The Hood College Student Veterans (HCSV) organization serves as a catalyst for student veteran success by providing resources, network support, and advocacy throughout and beyond higher education. The chapter connects members with the on-campus resources needed for personal and academic achievement, raises the visibility of student veterans, and fosters camaraderie among graduate student veterans.

Graduate student veterans often face unique challenges as they transition from military service into advanced academic programs while balancing professional, family, and personal responsibilities. Currently, there is a gap in dedicated support that addresses these specific needs. HCSV seeks to fill this gap by serving as a centralized support network that helps student veterans navigate campus resources, access academic and wellness services, and feel more connected to the broader graduate community.

HCSV supports the academic, professional, social, and wellness needs of graduate student veterans by fostering peer mentorship, collaboration, and shared experiences. The organization is distinct from existing campus groups because it focuses specifically on the intersection of veteran identity and graduate education, providing a supportive environment that recognizes the unique strengths and challenges of student veterans and enhances their overall success at Hood College.

By increasing awareness and representation of student veterans on campus, HCSV promotes inclusion and understanding within the broader Hood College community. The organization is open to students currently enrolled at Hood College, particularly student veterans and their families, and is committed to supporting service members, their families, and allies through transition, graduation, and into meaningful careers.
