Dr. Humphries serves the Hood community as the Director of Accessibility Services with a broad range of experience supporting individuals with disabilities. She has served as a special education teacher, a district administrator, university teacher preparation program staff, university accessibility office staff, and as a federal contractor. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees in special education from George Washington University, where her research focused on risk and resilience in beginning special education teachers.
Dr. Humphries is passionate about reaching underserved populations, closing opportunity gaps, and promoting independence. In her personal life, she enjoys bar trivia and exploring hiking trails and coffee shops around the Frederick area.

Student Test Proctor Job Description
The Student Proctor is responsible for providing secure exam facilitation and superior customer service in a comfortable, friendly environment. Exams to be proctored may be paper-based, computer-based, and/or require assistive technology. Proctors may be responsible for serving as a reader/scribe should a student require that as an accommodation. When there are no tests scheduled, Proctors will serve as student assistants to the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) director and may be asked to complete projects such as data entry, filing, social media support, and general administrative projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- ability to give written and oral instructions, and to communicate well and professionally with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff
- ability to exercise sound judgment and to exercise discretion in handling confidential information
- ability to independently solve problems and apply critical thinking skills
- ability to maintain calm demeanor when testing issues arise
- knowledge of basic computer operations is required (Microsoft Office)
- must be comfortable learning how to use testing software and assistive technology
- highly organized and able to multi-task
- customer-service oriented; including the ability to balance customer service with enforcement of testing security
- willing to comply with and enforce testing center policies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- comply with all testing procedures, practices and policies
- complete administrative work associated with testing (checking testing inbox, scheduling appointments, creating cover sheets, filing, emailing professors and students, etc.)
- set-up and configure computers for computerized test administration
- check in students and ensure test security by verifying students' identification (picture ID) prior to administering test
- perform administrative tasks associated with OAS operations as requested
- ensure respect for student information and student confidentiality
- resolve problems or testing issues that may arise during testing sessions
Related Responsibilities:
- minimal housekeeping duties such as sanitizing keyboards, shredding scratch paper, sharpening pencils, etc.
- answer telephone/email inquiries with accurate information to faculty, staff, students and the community in a friendly manner
- other duties as assigned
Surroundings/Environment:
Standard office environment, usually indoors away from the elements, with moderate noise.
Physical Effort:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the office, operate and position computers and files, as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.
Scheduling:
This is a part-time position of up to 8 hours per week. The testing center is open Monday-Friday from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and additional testing blocks during exam periods.
Travel:
Local travel across campus may be required.
